Hi everyone,

I have now officially received 3 $200 billion dollar projects, I hope that means that the rest of you did paper versions that are sitting in the bin.

Today you can do some more work on Money.  I would like you to write out the answers as best you can to the following questions.  You may work in pairs, but each person needs their own copy.  You can use the glossary in your text book, the internet and Mr Bakker as resources. Tomorrow I am hoping to be back .  Dollhouses will need to be finished during your own time, possibly even next week.

Have a good one…

Hi everyone,

I hope that the chapter 8/9 test went ok yesterday.

Today you need to work on studying for your exam.  I would start by going back through all your old tests and quizzes.  Look for multiple choice questions in particular.  Cover up the answers that they give and then try to solve the questions. You could also rewrite some of the questions on a separate sheet of paper and try them over again.  Go through the provincial and see how many you can do.  I have another review package that I will give you tomorrow.

I am hoping to be there tomorrow, so long as I am no longer contagious.  If I am not there tomorrow, I will be there on Sunday ( I will let you know the exact time later).

Study hard, use your class time well.

See you soon

Ms Jones

Morning everyone,

Ok, so for today, keep in mind that those of you that are missing a chapter 8 test have today and tomorrow to get it finished.  Also make sure any graphic organizers that you want me to mark are also done by tomorrow.  Your exam is on Tuesday Morning, and I will be here on Sunday to give extra help(I will let you know what time tomorrow).  You can also see Mr Green if you have questions about the exam.

The exam will cover everything since September, so make sure you go back and review those chapters.  Going back over the old chapter reviews and practice tests will help.

I am going to try to be there tomorrow, so long as I am no longer contagious.

For today, here are some notes on chapter 7 and an idea of what the goals are for you with this chapter.  We will obviously not get through it all, so this is the last bit for you. Then you will have tomorrows class to study.

chapter 7 summary

feel free to email me if you have any questions

Hopefully I will see you tomorrow

Math 11 – Foundations

Hi Everyone,

so I won’t be making it back in this week so you will have to get through this last chapter without me.

Anyone who needed to do the chapter 8 test, needs to arrange with Mr Bakker to get it done this week.  All other tests or quizzes that you are missing you also need to arrange to finish with Mr Bakker.  I only got through about half the projects before I got sick, so only you know if you handed it in. If you didn’t you better email me to arrange something.

Your ch 6 quest will be today, I think that it is quite fair considering the circumstances.  Make sure you show your work and draw your graphs on graph paper.

The project presentations will either be done on Friday ( I will drop off the projects) or we will have to arrange something else.

After your quiz today, you are going to need to do  section 7-7, solving quadratic equations using the quadratic formula

The key ideas for this chapter are on pg 427, and are pretty straight forward.  You are using a formula to solve the quadratic function.  The solution to a quadratic function are the “roots” of the equation, or where the equation crosses the x axis or where f(x) = 0.

Mr Bakker will run through a few notes with you and then you should be fine.

Try to do the following questions:

p427 – 428

# 2, 4, 7, 9, 11.

Tomorrow you are going to solve quadratic functions by factoring.  If you have your factoring (ch 5) foldable from Math 10 FPC it would be very helpful right about now.

Have a good day

Chat to you tomorrow

Math 11 AW – January 18th

Hi Everyone,

I am sorry to say that I will not be at school for the rest of this week. You will have to finish off the last few bits and pieces on your own.

I have received $200 billion projects from Eli and Steff (thanks) but no one else. Make sure you get those done.  You are going to have to finish them on your own time.

Today you are going to do a comparison of , create a summary, table, mind map etc.  Work with a small group, use the computer to help you research the different options.

a) ways to spend money (pros and cons)

credit cards,

buy now pay later,

lines of credit (secured and unsecured)

cash

b) saving/investing  money – how do they work? pros and cons?

savings accounts – long term, short term, compound interest, simple interest, tax free, GIC’s

retirement options – mutual funds, RRSP, RESP, stock market, real estate,  retirement options through your employer, bonds

c) loans

car loans, student loans, mortgage, line of credit

You are going to be asked to do something with this research on your exam, so make sure that you do a good job.

Use your time well, as time is running out. If you are missing a test/ quiz, make sure that you get it done ASAP

Thanks

Ms Jones

Hi everyone,

I am so sorry that I am not here to help you prepare for your exam.  I will be on on Sunday for a study session, and I will be there Monday to help as well, so save up your questions.

Good luck on your chapter 8/9 test today.  As a concession to me not being there to help you to prepare, you can use your ch 8/9 graphic organizer on the test.

If you are missing a test or quiz you will have to arrange with Mr Bakker to make it up this week.  If you really need to, you can come in next week to work with me.  If you are missing any handouts you may need to email me for them.

Make sure that you remember to complete your unit project for next Thursday.

Have a good one, and I will chat to you tomorrow

Hi y’all

So as you can see I am not back, and I won’t be back for the rest of the week.

What I would like you to do is prepare for your exam on Monday.
You have completed graphic organizers for chapters 1-3, so you only need to do one for chapter 4.

For chapter 4 I would like you to try doing a placemat as your graphic organizer. In the center of the page put

SCALE AND SCALE FACTORS

off of that make 4 sections

1) using unit analysis to do conversions

2) using proportional reasoning to solve ratios

3) scale and scale factors

4) similar figures

In preparation for your exam do the ch 1-4 review at the end of chapter 4.  Make sure that you only use your calculator minimally, as you won’t be able to use it for the whole exam.

If you have any questions you can email me.

Since I won’t be around to help you prepare, you are allowed to make a single sided, hand written, 8.5 by 11 study sheet to bring into the exam. You will also be allowed a times table sheet.  You may find it helpful to put some perfect squares, cubes etc on your formula sheet.

Use your class time well.

IF you are missing a test or quiz that you need to make up you will have to talk to Mr Bakker about making it up this week.  Any late work, put in the in bin and I will collect if sometime Friday.

See you next week

So I am home sick again today, and we still have some work to do before next week.

Your ch 6 quiz and presentations will be on Wednesday ( I hope).

Today you are going to take some of your own notes on quadratic functions.

The key ideas for these sections can be found on page 359, 368 and 379

You will see questions like these on the final, so use your time in class really well.

The assignment for today is

pg.360 # 1,2, 3,5

pg 368 # 4,5,9,11,13

pg 380 # 5, 6, 8

There is a lot of graphing here, so try to save time by drawing more then one graph on the same coordinate grid.

Have a good class and work hard…

Ms Jones

Math 11 AW – January 17th

Hi everyone,

So  I am still sick, which means that you are going to have to get some major work done on your own.

What you need to do: (no procrastinating)

1.  Finish your dollhouses, be extremely efficient, as you may need to give up some of your lunch hours to get it done.

2.  $200 billion project should be handed in, if you are not working on your dollhouse, finish that.  Check your outline!

3.  Hand drawn graphs need to be finished off.  If you are not sure what to do, ask each other.

4.  Review ch 1 for the final (slope and percent grade)

See you on Wednesday

Ms Jones
